Who are we?
The Czech National eHealth Center (NTMC) was established as a joint workplace of the University Hospital Olomouc (FNOL) and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Palacký University in Olomouc. Currently, we are an independent organizational unit of the University Hospital Olomouc. In 2020, we became the Competence Center for Telemedicine under the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Since 2012, we have been the reference point for Active and Healthy Aging under the European Commission.
What we do?
- Patient monitoring
We are focused on research in the field of telemedicine, where we verify the technologies that are available on the market, but we also create our own solutions. We have developed a telemedicine platform konzultace.fnol.cz (only in czech language), which we provide to chronically ill patients who are our patients with a wide range of diagnoses. We have the most patients in the field of cardiology, where we deal with heart failure, hypertension, pulmonary arterial hypertension, blood clotting disorders and heart rhythm disorders. Other fields are pulmonary diseases, specifically chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetology or monitoring of pediatric patients.
At the moment, we provide video consulting in the areas of oncology, cardiology, speech therapy, etc for FNOL patients.
We also deal with the issue of telemedicine in social services and with the provision of psychosocial support to palliative patients as part of the continuity of care.
- Teaching
In addition to scientific research, we also teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses focused on telemedicine for the General Medicine program at the Faculty of Medicine of UPOL and for the Organization and Management in Health Care program at the Faculty of Health Sciences of UPOL. Furthermore, we have created a digital textbook of cardiology ecardio.cz for students. We also give lectures on a regular heart failure course for nurses in cooperation with Novartis and Czech Society of Cardiology.

- Development
We have developed our own software solution (SW) and mobile application for chronically ill patients. We are working on the integration of devices into our platform with subsequent verification through clinical studies. At the same time, we are working on the development of our own hardware solutions (HW), such as devices for monitoring dust in the patient's home environment or monitoring of medication adherence. We are cooperating with the Brno University of Technology on SW, which goal is to predict whether and when it is necessary to use corticotherapy for patients with Covid-19 on the basis of available image and medical data.
As part of our activities, we implement a wide range of projects on a national as well as international level.
